Meeting of Baltic Sail partners in Klaipeda

On April 27th, six of seven Baltic Sail partners met for the annual spring meeting in Klaipeda, Lithuania, in order to breathe life into last year’s re-signed agreement in Gdansk on the cooperation of the baltic cities. During the workshop, the maritime festivals of the tie-in cities were coordinated for the coming season and future advertising efforts, such as internet presence and participation in trade fairs.

A result of the now 21-year partnership between the port cities of Klaipeda (Lithuania), Gdansk (Poland), Szczecin (Poland), Karlskrona (Sweden), Nysted (Denmark), Rostock (Germany) and Riga (Latvia) is a stake of Rostock at this year’s Sail Gdansk at the end of June to promote the 38th International Hanseatic Day and the 800th anniversary of the hanseatic town in 2018. The planning of the upcoming maritime festivals will also include the celebrations of the centenary independence of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland. In addition, the „Baltic Star“, a traditionally rigged cutter under Polish flag, confirmed their participation in the 80th WARNEMÜNDER WOCHE.
